Worthy heir of the Gania dynasty, the Maâlem – master heir of knowledge and great player of the guembri which is the main instrument of Gnawa music – Moktar Gania has imposed himself as an essential actor of the Moroccan Gnawa scene today. With his group Gnawa Soul, he recorded in Essaouira, his hometown, a first album of twelve Gnawa tracks to be released soon. In order to wait, the group offers us this first EP containing three versions of the traditional title “Alla a Soudane”. The Remix and Club Mix versions were produced in Philadelphia by DJ and producer Ben Arsenal of the Worldtown Soundsystem collective. The original version of the album was mixed by American engineer and producer Chris Shaw.
